Nikko Weidemann
For more than thirty years, the singer, composer and lecturer Nikolai "Nikko" Weidemann, has worked in a wide variety of bands and projects, playing with Einstürzende Neubauten, Nena, Rio Reiser and Nick Cave, among others. It wasn't until 2010 that he released his first solo record, "Schöne Schmerzen."
Weidemann also regularly composes for film and television, including Fatih Akin's "Gegen die Wand". Since 2017, Nikko Weidemann has been overseeing the production, as onscreen music supervisor, of the series "Babylon Berlin" set in 1920s Berlin. Together with Mario Kamien, he wrote, among other things, the theme song of the series "Zu Asche, zu Staub". "Babylon Berlin" was shown on ARD from September 30, 2018. Meanwhile, the compositions of the series can also be experienced live. Together with saxophonist and arranger Sebastian Borkowski, Nikko put together the Moka Efti Orchestra. A 14-piece ensemble of international musicians from the Berlin jazz scene. The orchestra is named after one of the great entertainment palaces of Berlin in the 20s.
